This article is interesting in that it documents clearly the simple but effective reasoning employed to identify the source of the infection (the contaminated blood sample) and it reveals a glimpse into human side of the CDC's work. We see here an elderly man having advanced treatment for a serious condition whose recovery is complicated by an unwanted infection from an unlikely source.
